Your call to arms from one who answered…

craftsmanspathcover.jpg

A Craftsman’s Path is a call to arms for those who feel destined to the fold. Its focus on preparing and maintaining oneself and one’s life on the path as an artist/craftsperson is rooted in what I wish someone had told me as I first stumbled onto - and with - this way of living.

*** THIS IS A MUST READ FOR ANYONE CONSIDERING MAKING A LIVING AS AN ARTIST ***
Or… anyone curious as to what makes one tick!

Chapter 1: The Path
”Though service of all kinds done with heartfelt endeavor is noble, still not everyone is here to be a baggage handler merely moving others’ whatevers from one place to another.”

Chapter 2: The Self
”Success on any path is often determined not by highest skill or handiest connection, but by the ability to keep ourselves together enough to take the opportunities that may come our way.”

Chapter 3: The Workshop
”…Is the temple where you do and the work you have been given becomes… also where the greatest work will be done on you by the process. It is building you as you are building it.”

Chapter 4: The Tools
”Tools deserve to be used up. Machines deserve to be worn out. Men should aspire to the same… make them yours until they again disperse into other hands to serve.”

Chapter 5: The Craft
”Something handmade should be - at a level much higher than homemade - identifiable as human craft. That little variance you have to feel with the fingers? That’s me.”

Chapter 6: The Knowledge
”If you are truly seeking the knowledge, you will seek those who truly know. Not experts of the digital age, debating and decrying. The ones you seek are in their workshops making it happen.”

Chapter 7: The Legacy
”Answer and offer enough and the name will take care of itself. In a hundred years we will all be old bones. Our choice is what to do with what we have. What will we make of it?”
