THESE are the super-short “shortbass” pocket basses I build in my own workshop up in rural far-northern NY state. #2606 “Steve” the Harmony Hill bass!
“Steve” is a sweet warm bass with a body of random mahogany strips - including old Birdsong cutoffs and one from the early ‘80s original SD Curlee workshop. The pickup is a random rail ‘bucker from the old Birdsong “Sample pickup” box, sent to us from somebody, and WOW! Plays like butter, looks like autumn, and sounds like maple syrup on a crisp fall morning.
