Hand Crafted Guitars
For almost 30 years I’ve been designing electric guitars and basses and crafting them in small batches, mostly known for my work with short scale basses through Birdsong, a company in TX I still own (www.birdsongguitars.com) and the super-short basses I build in my old Adirondack workshop now (check those out here).
The guitar, though, is my main instrument and passion. It saved me and gave me a path and purpose in my teens, and a multi-faceted life onward through music it brought. Below is what I’m currently crafting to sell, and below that a gallery.

The latest D’AQUILA guitar. D’AQUILA is a brand for my high-end, fancy carved and scrolled electric jazz guitars; my own designs, but inspired in spirit by the work of Doug Irwin and Abe Rivera. They make great blues, rhythm, or jam guitars too.
This is #11, and was started in my Texas workshop and worked on a little in Florida before I settled in to my 1800s homestead in rural far north New York. Spalted Texas pecan, bloodwood, mahogany, and ebony. Will get some tasteful real turquoise inlaid engraved accents on the headstock and body, a beautiful sounding single humbucker by the neck, and carved ebony surrounds and plates.
Once completed it will be around $4000 USD
The Harmony Hill is a “Scott Signature” build (signed headstock); it’s a warm sounding simple singlecut. Here’s a picture of the original from the 2000s and the couple I’ll be starting on in the spring of ‘26 that are available.
These are usually under $2000 USD.
